A great seminar with Bodoni
Last weekend, we held a historic seminar with 2x ADCC world champion Giancarlo Bodoni. Over the course of 4+ hours, Bodoni shared invaluable insights on ashi garami and x-guard, while also opening the floor to questions on techniques and concepts that were both transformative and directly applicable.
Seminars like these offer a unique opportunity to engage with world-class instructors in a way that instructional videos cannot. You can ask specific questions and receive immediate clarification on techniques that matter most to you.
It was clear that Bodoni is not only a top-tier competitor, but also a fantastic instructor with a wealth of knowledge. His personal take on the systematic approach passed down to him from John Danaher was particularly interesting to see. Beyond his technical expertise, Bodoni was incredibly open and personable, creating a welcoming learning environment that promoted active participation from everyone.

Kids and juniors graduation
Last week, we held a graduation ceremony for the kids and juniors of Arte Suave, with 70 kids participating! It’s always a special occasion and a joy to see the kids celebrate their growth, passion, and dedication to the sport of jiu-jitsu. Congratulations to everyone who earned new belts, and a big thank you to all the instructors for the hard work you put in.
These kids’ classes are an investment in the future of Danish jiu-jitsu. If any of these students continue their jiu-jitsu journey into adulthood, they will undoubtedly be a force to be reckoned with!
Kids autumn camp
This Monday, we hosted a wonderful Autumn camp for the kids, open to all academies. It was fantastic to see the kids having fun while learning jiu-jitsu. A big thank you to everyone who participated, and a special thanks to Vincent for consistently organizing these camps and creating a fun, engaging learning environment for our kids—your effort is truly appreciated!
Arte Suave at European Championship and Rome Open
Arte Suave will be proudly represented by eight athletes at the Rome Open and the European IBJJF Championships during the autumn break, on October 16th and 17th. Joachim Christensen will compete in both the Rome Open and Europeans, while the rest of our athletes will focus on the Europeans.

Checkmat open mat
On October 26th, Arte Suave will host our third open mat for all Checkmat clubs. Our previous events have been great, and we hope for even more participants this time, especially from other clubs. It is our ambition that these gatherings will strengthen the bonds between our clubs through friendly rolls and contribute to making competitions more accessible over time.
This is a wonderful chance to train with new partners and test your techniques against someone with a different style than you’re used to. The event is open to everyone from Arte Suave or any Checkmat-affiliated academy. No sign-up is necessary.
The event is both gi and no-gi!
Kettlebell workshop with Mike Gehlsen
On Sunday, the 27th of October, Arte Suave will host a kettlebell
workshop with Mike Gehlsen, friend of Arte Suave and a passionate
kettlebell training enthusiast. This workshop is a great opportunity to
improve your kettlebell techniques, build functional strength, and learn
how to incorporate kettlebells into your training routine effectively.
Whether you’re a beginner or have more experience with kettlebell
training, this workshop will provide valuable insights into enhancing
your strength, endurance, and overall fitness.

On November 9th, Arte Suave will proudly host another edition of BJJ Liga—a gi tournament in a round-robin format for both adults and kids. This format guarantees more matches for everyone, whether you win or lose, so you’ll get plenty of time to showcase your skills.
This beginner-friendly tournament is perfect for those looking to gain experience, and it’s held right here at our club, making it super convenient. Plus, with affordable prices—200 DKK for adults and 150 DKK for kids and juniors, if you sign up before 20th of October—there’s no reason to miss out.
