A Polish Champion & Other Comp Results
Gold in Poland!
Last weekend Kamil Kmiotek and Oskar Lang went to compete in the Polish No-GI BJJ Championship.
Oskar fought in the blue belt, -79.5 kg category, a stacked division with 37 contestants. He won his first match by armbar and his second with 4 points. Unfortunately he lost his third fight, thereby not making it to the semifinals. The contestant he lost to went on to win the division.
Kamil fought in the master 1, purple belt. 67,5 kg category and won both of his matches by submission; the first by armbar and the second by a rear naked choke. This earned him the gold and the title of Polish Champion.
He also had two matches in the adult division, but lost in the quarter finals, thus not making it to the semis.
Well done to the both of you and big congratulations!
Results from London Open Jiu-Jitsu
Last weekend Heide Truong and Alex Naumov went to compete at the London Open IBJJF Jiu-Jitsu Championship.
Heide were supposed to compete in the female brown belt division, but her opponent did not show up. She thus went to compete in the open weight category, first getting a bye, and then fighting a heavyweight. She unfortunately lost on points, but still got on the podium earning a bronze medal and some valuable competition experience.
Alex had two good matches. He won the quarter-finals, but unfortunately lost in the semi-finals to a strong opponent, earning him the bronze medal.
Well done and congratulations to the both of you, onward to the next challenge!
Victory for Milan in Esbjerg
Last weekend Milan Bodhi Silva Mørck won his professional MMA fight at Esbjerg Fight Night against a tough Polish opponent.
Milan had to dig deep, as early in the first round he got knocked down by the Polish opponent’s left hook. Milan spent the first minutes of the round on the defense, but managed finally to get on top, though still in the opponents closed guard against an armbar attempt.
Once Milan got out he landed some good strikes inside his opponent’s closed guard, thus ending the first round in dominant fashion.
Second round Milan got his opponent to the ground, once again landing strikes and defending an armbar attempt at the end of the round, but clearly dominating the fight.
The third and final round was more of the same, Milan getting his opponents back on the floor, and striking him from within the opponents guard, earning him the unanimous decision.
A big thank you to William Mørck, Bruce Ali, and Oskar Vind Due-Boje for cornering, and to coach Koubti and the rest of the Arte Suave team!
Big congratulations and well fought, Milan!
Results from DM in Muay Thai
Last weekend Benjamin Akpuaka fought for the title of Danish muay thai champion in Kalundborg, where he faced a tough and tricky southpaw opponent.
Unfortunately it did not go Benjamin’s way this time, as the opponent caught him with a quick hook that got him in a flash knockout. Luckily Benjamin does not seem to have suffered any serious injury and was already back to training on Monday.
We wish Benjamin good health and better luck next time.
