DM BJJ results & upcoming events
Last weekend we had 33 competitors at DM in BJJ 2024. With a total of 24 gold, 16 silver and 5 bronze medals, Arte Suave won the best academy trophies in both the no-gi and gi adult categories.
We where happy to see so many from our club competing and testing themselves. More so than the results, we are happy to see people get competition experience and challenging themselves, as well as supporting these tournaments.
There is a lot work going on behind the scenes, to put up a tournament, and to see people have fun and get some valuable experiences through the vehicle of jiu-jitsu makes it all worth it! Win or lose, you put a bit of yourself out there when you step on the mat, and we think everyone should try it at least once, to see if it is something they enjoy and learn from.

Arte Suave Summer Games + post training BBQ
Join us for another rendition of our famous Arte Suave Summer Games!
Sign up with a partner, or come alone and we’ll pair you up or let you compete solo—everyone’s welcome. We will have a variety of games and challenges designed to bring out your competitive side while having a great time.
Note: this is not a crossfit-type competition, but just a lot of low stakes fun and games, where everyone can compete.
Afterwards we will fire up the grill and have a BBQ, where everyone is welcome. We provide cutlery, but you must bring your own drinks and food for the grill.
This will probably be the last BBQ of the season, so if you missed out on the others, don’t miss this one!
MMA Galla and Nordic Championship
Don’t miss out on MMA galla 30th and 31st of August!
Arte Suave has three fighters on the card. William Mørck and Abd Rahman will be competing in the Nordic Amateur MMA Championship this Friday and Saturday. We’re rooting for them to bring home the victory!
Additionally, Frederik Strauss is set to fight in his 8th professional MMA, Saturday. Don’t miss out on supporting our fighters and watch some great fights!
Open mat for all Checkmat clubs
We are excited to announce a new initiative – Checkmat Open Mat at Arte Suave!
This is an exclusive event for all Checkmat clubs in Copenhagen. We will arrange these open mats once a month from now on, to strengthen the bond between our clubs and foster a sense of community.
The event will take place on either the first or last weekend of each month, depending on competitions and other events.
Mark your calendars for the inaugural session on Saturday, August 31st, 2024.
Join us for a chance to roll with some new people and connect with your teammates from other clubs. Don’t miss out!
DGL coming up
Next week, the 7th of September, we have Danish Grappling League (DGL) coming up. This is a no-gi tournament in a round robin format, meaning you can get a lot of matches, and a lot of competition experience. It is open for both kids and adults, and very beginner friendly, so don’t hesitate to sign up.
The last chance for late registration is the 1st of September, so don’t wait up!

Arte Suave No-gi in house competition
As a new initiative, we are organizing an in-house tournament at Arte Suave on the 21st of September. The idea behind this, is to give people the opportunity to gain some match experience, as competing is a skill in itself. We hope to see lots of support and participation in order to make this event a success that we can repeat in the future.

The tournament is exclusively for members of Arte Suave.

In this competition, you earn 5 points for winning by submission and 3 points for winning by points or judge’s decision. The format is round-robin, so you’ll face everyone in your group.
Groups can have up to 7 participants. The 1st, 2nd, and 3rd places are determined by the highest total
points in the group.
Weigh-in: 09:00-10:00
Match Start: 10:30
