3-0 for Arte Suave at MMA Galla

Last weekend we had three competitors at MMA Galla: William Mørck, Abd Rahman and Frederik Strauss.
Abd and William fought alongside the rest of the Danish national team, for the title of Nordic Champion, as the Danes faced the National teams from Iceland and Finland.
This evening it was Abd’s time to shine, winning his fight after dominating all three rounds and finishing especially strong the third round, thus earning an unanimous decision win and becoming Nordic Champion.
William had a tough first round, getting in some deep waters and surviving with just the skin on his teeth. In the second round he kept his cool, and capitalized on his opponent being tired from going all-in in the previous round. William pressured his opponent and defended a desperate shot and got his opponent with a guillotine, winning the match and becoming Nordic Champion.
Frederik fought his 8th professional fight, winning the match in the second round, with a beautiful armbar that also earned him the finish of the night!
Well done to all of you and big congratulations on the results, and also congratulations to the coaches and the team for making this possible.
And thank you to everyone who came to watch and support our fighters!

DGL this weekend

This weekend it is once again time for DGL, Denmarks oldest no-gi grappling tournament!
The registrations are closed, but come by and watch some exciting jiu-jitsu and support your teammates. We have 18 competitors from our club participating.

First Checkmat Open Mat in the books!

Last weekend we had our first rendition of our open mat for Checkmat Members in Arte Suave. We were thrilled to see so many people coming from other clubs and are already looking forward to the next one at the 28th of September!
It’s always fun to roll with someone you’ve never rolled with before, to see some different reactions and  how your game fares against somebody who doesn’t know your play-style and strategy.
We are also happy to decrease the distance between our clubs and see the comradery that can be fostered through martial arts and sports.

Arte Suave Games and BBQ

Last weekend we held another fun Arte Suave Summer Games, followed by a nice barbecue.
It was great to see everyone have fun in the sun, playing games devised by Marinela. A lot of laughter and friendly competitive spirit ensured.
We plan to make more of these sort of events, as we hope that people across the gym will get to know one another and form new bonds and friendships. Even though we are a martial arts gym at first, we hope you also find some social outlet at our facilities.
A big thanks to Marinela and Sabine for arranging this event, and to everyone for joining.
The next one will be a Christmas edition, and we hope to see a big turnout!
