End of EM preparations & DFC results
Defeat and victory at DFC
Last weekend Abd Rahman Alaoui Ismaili, Mack Promanee, Marco Birch, Mohamad “Mo” Aljayyal and Rida Jawad was on the fight card at Dominance FC.
Abd had to pull out in the last moment due to a lingering shoulder injury. Mack fought a close fight, but unfortunately lost a split decision. Mo started out well, hungry and ready for his fight, but disaster struck and his knee got injured during a fall. We wish Mo a speedy recovery!
Marco who was on the main card fought a beautiful fight, submitting his opponent with a rear naked choke in the very first round, once again showing that his level is extremely high.
It was a bittersweet night for the team, with injuries, losses and a well executed game plan from Marco.
Well done to all of you, and a get well soon to Abd and Mo.
EM coming up!
We have entered the final week of preparation for the IBJJF European Championships and our athletes are tired, but excited to put it all on the line. We have 17 athletes ready to go and we look forward to seeing how they will do. Make sure to wish them luck, and to check out their matches on Flograppling this weekend.

Don’t miss out on Danish Grappling League!
15th of February we will host another edition of Danish Grappling League (DGL).
This is a great tournament to get a lot of matches and experiences. The format is round robin, so you will face every opponent in your division.

ADCC referee course
On Saturday the 1st of March we are hosting a free referee course on the ADCC rules. We do this in the hopes of spreading more awareness and proficiency in the ADCC ruleset, for the benefit of the individual athletes and the BJJ community as a whole – and in the hopes of developing competent referees for our competitions. Everyone at any level and from any club is welcome.
The course contains the ADCC Rules practical review and testing of the rules. By completing the course, the participant obtains the degree of C-license referee under the rules of ADCC.
Remember to bring a rash guard and shorts without pockets or zippers. Since we will practice the rules with test matches.

Open Mat for all Checkmat members
On the 1st of March, we will have the first open mat of the year for all Checkmat clubs. Our previous events have been great, and we hope to have a lot of participants, especially from other clubs. It is our ambition that these gatherings will strengthen the bonds between our clubs through friendly rolls and contribute to making competitions more accessible over time.
This is a wonderful chance to train with new partners and test your techniques against someone with a different style than you’re used to. The event is open to everyone from Arte Suave or any Checkmat-affiliated academy. No sign-up is necessary.
The event is both gi and no-gi!
