3-0 for Arte Suave at Dominance FC

Last weekend we had three competitors at Dominance FC in KB Hallen: Rida Al-iraqi, Abdullah Amer and Marco Birch.
Rida won his fight quickly and decisively in the first round with a guillotine choke. Abdullah also won his fight in the first round, with elbows sent from hell in the mounted position. Marco had arguably the best fight of the evening, facing a strong German opponent with a 2-0 record. In the first round, Marco took his opponent down against the cage and got to the mounted position. However, he was reversed but maintained his closed guard, avoiding serious damage and conserving his energy for the next round. In the second round, Marco kept strong cage control and constantly pressured his opponent with punch combinations, ultimately finishing the fight with a TKO.

Results from Upcoming Fighters MMA and Kickboxing

Last weekend we had 7 competitors at Upcoming Fighters, 4 of those being kickboxing matches and 3 being MMA matches.
While only two of them came out victorious, everyone brought home valuable fighting experience.
For the MMA matches Altay Er won a convincing victory by points and showing some brutal ground and pound for the second fight in a row. Mikkel Jenker lost a really well-fought junior match on points. Magnus Rosenkvist lost a tough fight where he got hit a bit too much, and Koubti chose to throw in the towel in the third and final round.
In the kickboxing department Oliver Harrishøj achieved a well-earned victory. Mikkel Frederiksen unfortunately lost on points, the same for Arian Salehi. Viktor Petric lost to a KO, due to a liver kick. We hope and believe they will all come back stronger and hungrier after these matches, and will cheer for them onward.

A successful first Arte Suave in-house tournament

Last weekend we held our first of hopefully many successful in-house tournaments in Arte Suave.
This was all made possible by a big group of volunteers who helped set up the tournament and referee for the matches. A very big thank you to you!
We were also happy to see so many kids do their first tournament. Although this was just an in-house tournament, we hope this will serve as a stepping stone for more members from our academy to try their hand at competition.
Well done to everyone who participated and thank you for supporting this event! We hope to see even more participants for the next one!

Checkmat Open Mat at Arte Suave

On September 28th, Arte Suave will hold another open mat for all Checkmat clubs. The previous event was a big success, and we hope to see even more participants this time, hopefully with many attendees from the other clubs. We hope this will bring our clubs closer together for some friendly rolls and perhaps also contribute to make competitions less intimidating in the long run.
This is a great opportunity to train with someone you’re not used to and test your techniques against someone with a different game than you might be accustomed to.
The event is open for everyone from Arte Suave or any other Checkmat affiliated academy. No sign up necessary.
The event is both gi and no-gi.
