🥋 A new Black Belt & upcoming events
Friday, last week, we held the first belt graduation of the year. Congratulations to everyone who got their new stripes and belts and a special congratulations to William Tregart for receiving his black belt.
William is one of the hardest working and most talented BJJ competitors in Arte Suave and we are all looking forward to see him compete at the adult black belt division level!
Results from Siam Challenge
Last weekend we had three fighters, Anders Nielsen, Philip and Valentin competing at kickboxing tournament Siam Challenge. It didn’t go Philip’s and Valentin’s way, but Anders manged to win his match!
Well done to all of you and congratulations on your results!
Open mat for all Checkmat members
Saturday the 28th of March Arte Suave will host another open mat for all Checkmat members. The event is an opportunity to cross train with other BJJ players and to enhance the comradery between our affiliated clubs.
You can register for the open mat like a regular class, in our registration system.
Make sure to come by and get some rolls in!
Easter camp for kids and juniors
On Saturday28th of March Arte Suave will host an easter holidays training camp for kids and juniors. The training camp is open to all clubs.
The schedule will run from 10:00 to 13:00 and we will have two separate mats with training, one for the 5-10 year olds which will be led by Vincent, Signe and Isamu and one for those aged 11-17.
The 11-17 year olds will be taught by two great guest instructors, Daniel Forino and Martin Pogo:
Daniel Forino is a black belt under Shanti Abelha, who has impressively represented Danish jiu-jitsu in recent years with medals (gold, silver, bronze) at major events like Europeans, Master Worlds, and Brasileiro. He’s known for his strong guard which he might share some of his details of.
Martin Pogo is head coach at Spring Jiu Jitsu, with a strong presence in the Danish and international competition scene. Known for his great attitude and passion for the sport, and especially for developing top-level junior athletes in Denmark. The camp costs 50 DKK. There are limited spots available, and last year was sold out, so make sure to get yours quick!

Kids’ and Juniors’ graduation
On Thursday the 16th of April we will have our belt graduation ceremony for our kids and juniors.
🕒 Schedule:
5-8 year olds: 16:00-17:00
9-12 year olds + juniors: 17:00-18:00
As per usual there is no regular kids training on this day. We will do a warm up and some free sparring, and afterwards the kids will be awarded belts and stripes and we will take a group photo.
