Kamil Conquers Brazil & Upcoming Events
While the rest of us has relaxed during our vacation time, Kamil Kmiotek went to Brazil to compete at three separate events: the AJP Grand Slam in Rio de Janeiro, the IBJJF Sao Paulo Open and the IBJJF South American Master International, also in Rio.
Kamil managed to get to the podium in each tournament, bringing home 2 gold, 1 silver and 2 bronze medals – a truly great accomplishment!
At his weekend in AJP he got the gold medal in his weight class, in the gi.
At Sao Paulo Open he got the gold in his weight class in no-gi, and silver in the gi. In the open division no-gi he got the bronze medal.
Finally, at the South American Masters back in Rio he got the bronze medal in his category.
Kamil is back in Denmark now, teaching the morning no-gi classes. Make sure to congratulate him, when you see him.

Rules seminar with Alexaner Baffoun
Sunday 9th of August there will be a IBJJF rules seminar with Alexander Baffoun at Spring Jiu-jitsu in Amager.
The seminar is open for everyone interested, whether they are planning to compete or want to work as a judge at an IBJJF tournament.
Baffoun is the head judge at Danish Open, and brings several years of judging and teaching experience.
Whether it is your first time taking this course, or if you have done it before it is very educational and valuable, so don’t miss out!
In the seminar the following will be reviewed, among other things:
– How points are awarded, and what the referee is looking for
– Advantages: When they are given, and why they matter
– How you secure and maintain a position so that it counts
– Penalty points, passivity, and how you can lose a match without being submitted
– Disqualifications: What can lead to them, and how you avoid them
If you complete and pass the course, you will be qualified to serve as a referee at Danish BJJ tournaments from blue belt and above (18+).

Danish Nationals coming up
The Danish Nationals (DM i BJJ) is taking place 22nd of August, in Grøndals Multicenter.
Don’t miss out on the opportunity to become the Danish champion in your category and get some great competition experience. This tournament is for anyone with Danish residence, so you don’t need to be Danish to compete, but you must live in Denmark.
Normal registration is open until 9th of August, so make sure to register before then, or the price will increase.
