Results from Europeans & exciting workshops ahead
Last weekend, we had 8 competitors at the European Open, and Joachim also represented us at the Rome Open. Unfortunately, it didn’t go our way this time, as most of our athletes were eliminated early in their brackets. This is the harsh reality of competition, but we must remember that in tournaments like these, half of all competitors are eliminated in the first round. This is also what makes winning such events a great achievement—reaching great heights also comes with the risk of experiencing great lows.
While we sympathize with our competitors, who all worked incredibly hard, there is much to learn from these experiences. We believe they will return stronger and hungrier for the next event.
However, we did have one athlete who pulled through: Joachim won both of his divisions, earning double gold with a standout performance! A big congratulations to Joachim on his fantastic achievement—we’re all very proud of his performance!

Kettlebell workshop with Mike Gehlsen
This Sunday, the 27th of October, Arte Suave will host a kettlebell workshop with Mike Gehlsen, friend of Arte Suave and a passionate kettlebell training enthusiast. This workshop is a great opportunity to improve your kettlebell techniques, build functional strength, and learn how to incorporate kettlebells into your training routine effectively.
Whether you’re a beginner or have more experience with kettlebell training, this workshop will provide valuable insights into enhancing your strength, endurance, and overall fitness.

Checkmat open mat
Don’t miss out on this Saturdays open mat for all Checkmat clubs, 26th of October. Our previous events have been great, and we hope for even more participants this time, especially from other clubs. It is our ambition that these gatherings will strengthen the bonds between our clubs through friendly rolls and contribute to making competitions more accessible over time.
This is a wonderful chance to train with new partners and test your techniques against someone with a different style than you’re used to. The event is open to everyone from Arte Suave or any Checkmat-affiliated academy. No sign-up is necessary.
The event is both gi and no-gi!

On November 9th, Arte Suave will host another edition of BJJ Liga—a gi tournament in a round-robin format for both adults and kids. This format guarantees more matches for everyone, whether you win or lose, so you’ll get plenty of time to showcase your skills.
This beginner-friendly tournament is perfect for those looking to gain experience, and it’s held right here at our club, making it super convenient. The price of registration is 300 DKK for adults and 200 DKK for kids and juniors, if you sign up before 27th of October—there’s no reason to miss out.

Squat workshop with Martin Prassé
On the 10th of November at 12 PM, we will be hosting a workshop focused on squat technique, led by our highly experienced physical coach, Martin Prassé. Martin is responsible for the physical training of our elite athletes and brings a wealth of knowledge and practical expertise.
In this workshop, you will:
- Receive personalized guidance to find a squat style that matches your body and anatomy.
- Discover how different squat variations benefit your training.
